In a 2016 interview with The Washington Post, Trump stated, &#8220;I think it&#8217;s bad. I feel strongly about that. It&#8217;s bad, very bad.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump&#8217;s stance on cannabis legalization is in line with the policies of his administration, which has taken a hardline approach to drug enforcement. In 2018, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinded an Obama-era policy that allowed states to legalize cannabis without federal interference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Trump&#8217;s choice for Attorney General, William Barr, has also expressed his opposition to cannabis legalization. In a 2019 Senate hearing, Barr stated that he believes marijuana is a dangerous drug and that he would not support its legalization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the growing support for cannabis legalization among the American public, Trump has remained steadfast in his opposition to the drug.
